I SAID that "Grunge" was the INSTRUMENT that the media used to keep everything on a phony, denim and tee levell.

The MEDIA elevatede a suicidal junkie to the level of an icon. The contradictions of being a media darling and being promoted as some sort of bohemian saint probably killed NOBRAIN more than anything. I mean, he would have shot junk anyway, but the insanity of the media just made it worse.

Grunge was just Boring, Lame, Depressed music that gave musicians an excuse to not take a bath.
The whole walking out from behind a dumpster look was not cool at all.
    In otherwords...

Surely grunge's so-called depressiveness needs to
exist in order to legitimise any 'good time'
    antithesis/antedote? If Subpop's unprecedented
success hadn't been picked up by the majors, the
glam genre may not have been so supressed, but
nevertheless, might have splintered off into so
many sub-genres, that glam people themselves may
have catagorised them in terms of 'goodtime-ness'.
Or, another (media-invented) pigeon hole of music
who have used to excuse any lack of glam band
success - 'It's the boybands' fault?' 'No, it's
speed metal that's doing it.' 'Personally I think
it's the garage band wankers,' etc., etc.

Only music journalists should really invest
any importance in these types of (now aging)
arguments, and musicians shouldn't feel obliged
by peer pressure into feeling partisan to an
    exclusive genre.

We can no longer edit posts?

    (Oh yeh, we can.)

Another thing: Is it just on my screens that
the emoticons and rating stars have nasty pixely
    edges on them?

The nasty pixely emoticon edges showed up when the background changed from white to blue.
